Razer Mamba

Razer Mamba
Elite Ergonomic Gaming Mouse
Overview
Razer are well known for their accomplished arsenal of gaming peripherals, but they have yet to set foot into the wireless market until recently. The general theory is that wireless mice will lag and therefore put users at a disadvantage. This along with fears of the battery depleting mid game and interference with other wireless peripherals has led to the wired mouse dominating the gaming market.
In this edition of Gang Gamer Grean: Razer Review, Thailand, we are going to be reviewing the Razer Mamba, the first Razer jump, into the wireless gaming world.
Pros
- Wired and Wireless modes
- High polling rate
- Onboard Memory
Cons
- Expensive
- No on-the-fly macro recording
- Clunky USB cable
- DPI adjusting buttons are placed in an awkward positions
Mamba Review
Now, most people would all hesitate to adapt to any of the non-wired gaming mice, due to the delays caused by the wireless input transmission and the processing time. But please, cut the crap. The Razer Mamba had spent years in develop, having a very impressive range of specs, such as the Precision 3.5G laser sensor, 1ms polling rate and a staggering 5,600 DPI makes this mouse one of the most agile seen so far. Typically of being branded Razer, the Mamba does come with a very steep price.

The Mamba design could be said to look very similar to the popular Razer DeathAdder, but that’s a different story.

What’s very cool about the Mamba is it usage of a lithium ion rechargeable battery. It would be very disturbing to swap out AAA batteries during intense gameplay sessions. Instead, a charging base, which also acts as the mouse’s wireless transmitter, recharges the mouse while holding it up right at a slightly titled angle giving a very classy look to the Mamba whilst charging. Adding the dramatic effect is a cool blue glow LED light that shines from underneath the transmitter and around the wireless sync button. Alternatively, the mouse can be recharge through the transmitter’s USB wire, just plug it in between the mouse’s left and right click buttons, under the scroll wheel. Plug and play.

The DPI setting buttons are located towards the left of the left click button, while this is not a major concern, there are still a few people who are able to mistakenly press the buttons while trying to frag someone.

The battery life as stated is around 14 hours of continuous gaming or 72 on-off usual, which is about right. Having played a full 15 hours continuous myself, the Razer Mamba didn’t break its promise. Even when left on wireless mode over-night, it can still run on the next morning.

Overall, the only thing that keeps the Mamba away from most people is the price, other than that, this mouse packs an awesome punch for anyone who can afford one of these babies.
