Nostromo Review
The Razer Nostromo is a gaming keypad, an excellent alternative to the essential keyboard. Commands at your fingertip delivered in a classy 16 keys chassis frame that fits perfectly, fit all too well actually. This is the ultimate tool for experience gamers looking to try something different.

The Nostromo is not designed to completely replace the standard keyboard for regular use, rather to complement it.

Packing a total of 15 keys, a button, a scroll wheel and a thumbstick, all fully programmable, the Nostromo is geared up and gamed on for pretty much everything you can throw at it.
Out of the box, plugging the Nostromo via a USB cable is all it takes to play, this keypad comes auto-configured to imitate the left section of a standard keyboard, particularly useful for first person shooter games. For MMO gamers, spending a few minutes to customize the macros will be rewarding, with up to 9 key-maps for over 20 different game-profiles, the Nostromo will definitely help you slay any dragon, horseback riding and raid into civilians’ houses with ease and comfort.

The 8-directional thumbstick is also customizable, whether you need it for movement, switching weapons or placing buildings on, it’s all up to you. The button that is above the thumbstick, by default is used for the key-map switching during gameplay. Users don’t have to worry about manually changing the game profile when they want to play another game, as the .exe file can be added into the game-profiles in the configurator. The Nostromo also have an on-board memory so any games can be played anytime, anywhere, without the hustle of re-configuring again.

The pad and the scroll wheel are black lit with blue LEDs, brightness can be adjusted through the Nostromo’s software.

The Nostromo may not work well with people with large hands, also the bottom row of keys are tough to access, but maybe Razer intend to have that configured for infrequent commands . The scroll wheel is somewhat located in an awkward position.

In summary, the Razer Nostromo is a welcoming addition to anyone’s gaming rig. There is barely, if any room for improvement, but personal issues may arise depending on hand size and gripping style.
First Hour Hand-on Review
14th minute: Grubbing my hand over the left-handed tech piece
21st minute: Playing FPS such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2, the Nostromo is pretty much useless for FPS
36th minute: Although it is useful for FPS such as Team Fortress 2, the D-pad comes in handy
44th minute: Playing WOW with the Nostromo configured for PVPs and PVEs is a breeze
56th minute: May need sometime getting used to the Nostromo, still executing the wrong spell
